1. Thai Cabinet Committee approves 45-day extension of visa exemption and 30-day of Visa on Arrival
After being approved by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) in the first consideration, the Cabinet Committee then granted the visa extension to be effective next month. This include 45 days extension for visa exemption and 30 days for Visa on Arrival (VoA). The temporary extension, applied until March next year, is aimed to attract more international tourists which are expected during the high season, especially from Europe and the United States, as well as to boost the tourism industry after the Covid-19 economic hardship. According to the TAT, about 10 million tourists are estimated by year end.

2. Thailand designates May 7th as tentative date for 2023 general election
The tentative date for the next general election on May 7th is set in line with the Thai Constitution which stated that the general election must be held within 45 days after the end term of the House of Representatives which is on March 23rd. Candidates for the next election are advised not to engage in activities that are likely to affect individuals’ favor or offering anything that tends to convince eligible voters within the 180 days after the end term counts.

3. Thailand’s Covid-19 Center announces end of Emergency Decree and CCSA dissolution, effective October 1st
It is now official that the Emergency Decree would be put into an end next month which also results in the dissolution of the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) after two years of its establishment to fight the global pandemic. However, related government departments would be assigned with similar CCSA tasks to continue monitor and prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
