3. Roadworks on South Pattaya Second Road by Walking Street will be finished by September 30th, deputy mayor declares

After numerous complaints from business owners in this part of Pattaya the city is expediting the work, intending to finish it by September 30th. However, due to poor weather and constant rain, even working 24-hours a day, this deadline is somewhat unsure, notes TPN.

The construction work in this area is on a major road linking towards Jomtien where all baht buses normally travel and where many Indian tourists stay, eat, and walk. As a result, business owners, especially restaurants and hotels, have been putting intense pressure on the city to end the construction work.

4. Pattaya mayor announces set prices and legal selling hours for beach services

One of the biggest changes is legally expanding the hours that beach vendors can operate, a request that had been made for over a year. Beach vendors told TPN media that many customers now prefer to sit and relax after sundown on the beaches and this allows the vendors to meet the needs of these customers.

5. Pattaya City Council urges Mayor to broaden legal operating zone for nightlife venues

The last time nightlife zones were expanded was two decades ago, in 2002. If this proposal is approved it would finally allow bars and entertainment venues in Jomtien, Naklua, and Eastern Pattaya to legally stay open later and be entertainment venues. However, there are some concerns regarding possible noise pollution or conflicts with local residents. An informal poll conducted by The Pattaya News showed 82 percent of local residents that took the poll approved of the idea.
