The Cabinet Committee on Tuesday, September 20th, approved the visa exemption period extension for foreign tourists from 30 days to 45 days from October 2022 to March 2023.

The Visa on Arrival (VOA) will also be extended from a maximum of 15 days to 30 days, as proposed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and initial approval by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) in August.

The temporary extension, starting from October 1st, is applied to attract more international tourists which are expected during the high season, especially from Europe and the United States, as well as to boost tourism industry after the Covid-19 economic hardship.

The government also expects that the extension would also help stimulate a number of tourists of at least 10 million by the end of 2022 as planned by the Tourism Authority.
