Mueang district, Chonburi —
A Chonburi official caught her 29-year-old female secretary who had allegedly been stealing her money in her bedroom for the last five years, worth over 10 million baht.
The suspect was a secretary to the female mayor of the Nong Mai Daeng subdistrict in Chonburi’s Mueang district, Mrs. Tuangthip Phawasutchaikit. She brought CCTV footage of her own secretary, Ms. Sunanta Suebkaew (29), allegedly stealing money from her bedroom to file a report at the Don Hua Lo police station, leading to Sunanta’s arrest.

In the CCTV footage, Sunanta was clearly seen rummaging all over her boss’s bedroom and stealing money every day for over 21 times, the Don Hua Lo police revealed. The mayor said she did not notice anything about her missing cash over the past five years until a big sum of money — sometimes 5,000 baht and even 20,000 baht — began to mysteriously disappear from her bedroom.

At first, Tuangthip suspected every person around her even her own daughter, who told her that she might be overly paranoid. She then decided to install a security camera inside her bedroom without telling anyone.
The camera successfully captured the culprit, which turned out to be her personal secretary, Sunanta, the mayor told police. She said she was elated that the culprit whom she described as being “extremely ungrateful” finally got to pay for her actions. The total amount of stolen money was no less than 10 million, the mayor claimed.

Sunanta was charged with theft and embezzlement in the dwelling. She reportedly admitted to her allegations, claiming she was fueled by her greed. An investigation also determined that the suspect had five bank accounts, one of which contained over 4 million baht, a sharp contrast to her salary, which was only 12,000 baht a month.
