16-year-old Thai-British teen flees house by leaping off second floor balcony in Pattaya as fire erupts

Pattaya —

A 16-year-old Thai-British teen fled his house in Pattaya when a fire suddenly erupted on a sofa in his house.

A firefighter crew with two firetrucks hurried to a house in the Royal Park Thepprasit village located in Pattaya early this morning, September 12th, after being notified of a fire.

The incident scene was a two-story house. Firefighters reported seeing black smoke gushing out of the first floor, so they used a smoke extractor to get rid of the smoke before putting out the fire that was burning a sofa.

The resident, Mr. Poramase Sorathon, a 16-year-old Thai-British teen, said that he was resting in a room on the second floor when he smelled burning fumes and came out to see a blazing sofa downstairs. He then hurried back upstairs and jumped off the balcony to escape the fire.

Mr. Poramase was uninjured desire his leap of faith, according to reports. He suspected that the fire may have been caused by an appliance that his British father was charging on the sofa. Pattaya police said the exact cause is still under investigation. His father was also uninjured.
