Mueang district, Chonburi —
A 40-year-old roofer, who worked on a roof during a downpour yesterday, fell to his death in Chonburi’s Mueang district.
Samed police responded to a fatal accident at an entertainment venue, “Happy World,” in the Huai Kapi subdistrict of Mueang district, Chonburi, on Wednesday afternoon, September 7th.
The victim was a 40-year-old Thai roofer named Narong Hongsikaew, according to police reports. He was discovered sprawled on the concrete outside the 10-meter tall entertainment venue and had suffered severe head injuries. Beside him was scaffolding sitting near the building. The victim was pronounced dead by rescue personnel on the spot.
Tan Thirawaen, a 46-year-old friend of the victim, said that he and the victim were fixing the roof of the building when rain started to pour down heavily. Tan then packed up his tools and climbed down to get back home.
While Tan was on the ground, however, he heard a loud noise behind him, and when he looked back, he found that his friend had fallen from the roof and died on the concrete. Samed police suspected that the man may have hastened to get down and slipped because of the rain.
The victim’s body remains at a hospital waiting for ceremonial rites as of press time.
