16-year-old student killed in multi-vehicle crash in Chonburi

Phan Thong district, Chonburi —

A 16-year-old vocational student was killed in a crash involving a Mercedes-Benz and a motorcycle in the Phan Thong district of Chonburi.

Phan Thong police and emergency responders rushed to Soi Thetsaban 3 in Chonburi’s Phan Thong district to assist a critically injured motorcyclist who crashed into a Mercedes Benz sedan on Sukprayun Road yesterday afternoon, September 7th.

The victim, identified as Ukrit Manomaihathaithip (16), was found sprawled on a traffic island. He suffered severe rib fractures and shortly passed away on the spot despite resuscitation attempts. His body lay 5 meters away from his black Honda CBR bike and a bronze Mercedes-Benz sedan. There was no mention of whether he wore a helmet or not.

According to police reports, the victim was a vocational student at the Eastern College of Technology. The driver of the sedan, Ms. Kanya Bua Phrae (30), told Phan Thong police that the victim veered off his lane and crashed into the right side of her car. She already tried to brake but failed, Ms. Kanya claimed.

The student’s body was moved to Phan Thong Hospital to await his family as of press time. Phan Thong police said they would review CCTV footage to find the exact cause of the accident.
