Sri Racha —
A group of ninth-graders reportedly raced bikes in Sri Racha before one crashed into a power pole and died on the spot.
Pol. Capt. Rachan Chaiphin from the Nongkham police station on Monday, September 5th, rushed to assist a severely injured ninth-grader who had hit his head with a footpath after his bike crashed and fell in Sri Racha.
The accident scene was on Bueng-Pattaya Road in the Bueng subdistrict. Pol. Capt. Racha arrived to see the young victim (15) lying in a pool of blood on the street flanked by his mourning parents.
The victim suffered severe head and neck injuries and passed away on the spot, according to police reports. He was a ninth-grader and was out after school at 9.30 p.m. to play with his friends, the parents said.
The victim’s friend who waited at the scene admitted that they were racing bikes for fun without their parents knowing. The victim drove very fast before he lost control and crashed into a power pole, which knocked him off his bike and landed on the footpath.
The departed ninth-grader was transferred to Laem Chabang Hospital for an autopsy. The parents said that they still could not believe what had happened.
