Six people injured, including Songtaew passengers and pickup truck driver, in multi-vehicle accident in Pattaya on Saturday

Banglamung, Chonburi –

Five Songtaew passengers and a pickup truck driver were rushed to the nearest hospital after being injured in a multi-vehicle accident at a U-turn on Sai Song road in Nong Prue subdistrict, Banglamung district, on Saturday evening, September 3rd.

Police officials and volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation arrived at the scene after being alerted to the road accident at around 8:30 PM.

Upon arrival, a Songtaew was found being crashed into at the back, causing five passengers to be injured. The other party was a modified pickup truck with a Bangkok license plate which reportedly went across the lane before falling off the road into a sideroad. The pickup truck driver Panupong, 36, was also injured. All of them were transferred to the nearest hospital.

The truck driver told the officials that he was driving at a high speed on a straight lane when the Songtaew suddenly made a U-turn at the spot. He failed to stop his vehicle in time, so both vehicles crashed.

Officials took pictures of the scene as evidence and would collect footage of the incident from nearby CCTV cameras. Driver Panupong was also ordered to conduct an alcohol test after the interrogation.
