Thai masseuse allegedly turned human trafficker nabbed in Rayong province

Rayong province —

A Thai masseuse allegedly turned human trafficker was nabbed in Rayong province for the exploitation of two minors for prostitution.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Wiwat Khamchannan, commander-in-chief of the Anti Trafficking in Persons Division, on Friday, August 26th, apprehended Kwansiri Krathuanrat, a 28-year-old native of Rayong province, who was on an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court for her alleged involvement in the exploitation of two minors for prostitution.

Kwansiri was nabbed in the Tha Pradu subdistrict of Mueang district in Rayong Province, Pol. Maj. Gen. Wiwat told TPN media. The arrest was in the aftermath of the rescue of two female minors aged 13 and 16 who reportedly suffered parental problems in Rayong province.

The two victims were orphans who had fled their foster family due to personal issues, Wiwat stated. They then came across Kwansiri or the suspect who allegedly exploited them for prostitution for money. The victims were also forced to take drugs, according to Wiwat.

Kwansiri reportedly admitted to the crime, claiming she was a masseuse in Rayong before deciding to become a human trafficker in order to feed her two children. The suspect is facing charges of colluding with others in human trafficking by abusing people under 15 years old and luring minors into human trafficking.
