Thai Meteorological Department forecasts scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains over most parts of Thailand this week

The Thai Meteorological Department on Monday, August 22nd, forecasted scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in most parts of Thailand this week, from August 23rd to the 28th.

According to their announcement, a monsoon trough lies across the North and the Northeast of Thailand into the low cell over upper Vietnam while the southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand between the 23rd and the 26th, resulting in isolated heavy rains in the North, the Northeast, the East, and the South (west coast) of Thailand.

The weakening wind and waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are about 1-meter high and above 1-meter high in thundershowers. From the 27th to the 28th, less rain is forecast over the country as the monsoon trough and the southwest monsoon prevailing in the Andaman Sea will weaken.

In Northern Thailand, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are predicted from the 25th to the 26th, and isolated to scattered thundershowers are from the 27th to the 28th with a minimum temperature of 21-27 °C and a maximum temperature of 28-36 °C.

In Northeastern Thailand, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are likely during the 24th – the 26th, and isolated to scattered thundershowers are between the 27th and the 28th with a minimum temperature of 22-27 °C and a maximum temperature of 28-36°C.

In the Central part, isolated to scattered thundershowers are predicted on the 23rd and the 27th – the 28th while isolated thundershowers are from the 24th to the 26th with a minimum temperature of 21-27 °C and a maximum temperature of 30-36 °C.

In Bangkok and its vicinity, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are also forecasted during the 25th – the 26th while isolated to scattered thundershowers are possible from the 27th to the 28th with a minimum temperature of 23-28 °C and a maximum temperature of 30-36 °C.

In Eastern Thailand, including Chonburi, scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are expected from the 23rd to the 26th, and isolated to scattered thundershowers are during the 27th – the 28th with a minimum temperature of 23-28 °C and a maximum temperature of 29-35 °C.

On the east coast of the Southern Part, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers are predicted throughout the period. Wave height is forecasted to be about 1 meter and above 1 meter in thundershowers with a minimum temperature of 22-27 °C and maximum temperature of 30-36 °C.

On the west coast, Scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers are predicted throughout the period and isolated heavy rains are likely from the 23rd to the 27th.

In provinces from Phuket upwards, wave heights are forecasted to be about 1-2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers while about 1 meter and 1-2 meters in thundershowers are likely in provinces from Krabi downwards.

The Department warns the public in the North, the Northeast, the East, and on the west coast of the South to beware of heavy rain and its accumulation throughout this week.
