A 54-year-old man was found dead in a deserted pond while out fishing in Chonburi.

The victim was a 54-year-old elderly father, Kwanjai Kaewyam. He was discovered by his daughter, Maneemol Kaewyam, 22, who left home to look for him after he was out fishing for oddly long.

Maneemol said she found her father’s sandals and his bucket at the pond, but he was nowhere to be found, so she called the police, suspecting that her father might have drowned. The officers and the diving team then arrived and dived into the pond to search for the man.

The mission took almost five hours, as the pond was over 16 kilometers wide. Finally, the victim was found at the bottom of the pond. Kwanjai, the victim, was pronounced dead at the scene from drowning.

The officers initially believed that the victim might have had a cramp or gotten too exhausted to get out of the water and drowned, as he was reportedly an experienced swimmer and fished in the deep pond daily. His body would later be transferred to a hospital for an elaborate autopsy.
