An armed man was arrested with his gun and 40 bullets after allegedly punching police officers and trying to flee in his BMW.
Pol. Lt. Col. Prabchok Asasuk from the Pattaya Police Station responded to an altercation between three people on Soi Ten in Pattaya around 6 AM yesterday, August 14th.
The officer arrived at the end of the alley to see the male suspect identified later as Jane Ditphakdee, 42, arguing with a couple. Officer Prabchok noticed that Jane was carrying a firearm around his waist, so he quickly decided to step in between the three and asked to search Jane.
As the officer approached, Jane suddenly punched him twice, knocked him down, and darted for his BMW before speeding away.
Officer Prabchok then drove after him and called for reinforcements, knowing that Jane had a weapon and was dangerous. The two chased on local Pattaya roads until Jane’s car crashed into a power pole at an intersection near the Pattaya Provincial Waterworks Authority in the Nongprue subdistrict.
Despite being circled by the police squad, Jane still refused to surrender and attempted to force his way through, but he was outnumbered and finally arrested. Officer Prabchok said he found a handgun and various types of 40 bullets in Jane’s BMW, which he reportedly admitted to owning.
Initially, Jane was charged with carrying a firearm without permission, bringing a weapon into public, and assaulting law enforcement officers. The cause of his dramatic action was that he reportedly tried to hit on the woman with whom he had argued earlier, but she already had a husband.
