56-year-old bottle scavenger found dead in front of abandoned convenience store in Pattaya

Pattaya —

A 56-year-old male bottle scavenger was seen lying on the ground near an abandoned convenience store in Pattaya and was later found to have died mysteriously.

The body of Peng Chanatalay, a 56-year-old scavenger who collected used bottles and cans for a living, was found dead on the ground this morning, August 1st, before an abandoned convenience store near South Pattaya Road.

The discovery of Peng’s body was around 9:30 AM today. Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue workers found no injuries on the man’s body but only two small plastic bags containing soy milk, one had already been drunk, beside him on the ground. Parked on the road was his red Honda Click motorbike, which was later kept by law enforcement as evidence.

His neighbor Maliwan Sanguannok, 39, who was looking for him, stated that Peng was a scavenger and usually came home in the dawn after collecting used bottles overnight. But today he was oddly late, so Maliwan and his wife (name withheld due to her privacy) had to come and look for him only to find him dead on the ground.

His wife stated that Peng suffered several ailments and may have passed due to his ailments. As of press time, his body was transported to Banglamung Hospital to proceed further with religious rites.
