Pattaya —

A 58-year-old Thai man fell from his balcony after trying to retrieve his kitchen knife and died.

Local residents in Soi Sukhumvit 91 in the Nongprue subdistrict were shocked to find the body of their neighbor Prasitchai Saekow, 58, lying in a pool of blood on the parking lot’s concrete ground yesterday, July 29th, and called Pattaya police.

Accompanied by the victim’s son, Phitsanusak Saekow, 34, the officers then went to investigate the victim’s room on the third floor and found no signs of someone breaking into the room but instead many misplaced kitchen tools, including knives, scissors, and a pot lid, on the balcony.

A table was also reportedly discovered near a window to the balcony, which led the police to suspect that the victim may have tripped over while trying to retrieve the tools and fallen to his death from the third floor.

Phitsanusak, the victim’s son, revealed that he worked and lived with his wife at the ice-making plant where his dad was found dead. Around one week ago, his dad traveled from his hometown to Pattaya for a holiday, so Phitsanusak let him and left the room in the morning for work as usual yesterday. He added that he never believed his dad would pass in such a tragic way.

As of press time, the victim’s body was transferred to Banglamung Hospital to await religious rites. The victim’s son reportedly did not contest the police’s determination of his father’s cause of death.
