Sattahip holds a meeting to support teaching sailing in schools, Sattahip wants to be known as “City of Sailing”

Sattahip —

Sattahip recently held a meeting to support nautical tourism and make sailing an elective subject in schools.

The meeting was held on Tuesday, July 19th, in the Sattahip District with Pichai Lochusakul, commander of the 1st Naval Fleet Area, as a chairperson. The meeting’s goal was to make nautical tourism in Sattahip more recognizable and to teach sailing in schools in order to nourish young sailing athletes.

“Sailing is a very fun activity that I think our children should learn. They can even become a professional competitor in the future if they practice hard enough,” Pichai stated.

To do so, Pichai stated that he would make sailing an elective subject that students could learn on their weekends. Most meeting participants agreed with him including representative students from 10 schools around Sattahip.

This is part of an overall plan, according to Pichai, to make Sattahip the City of Sailing in Thailand and encourage sailing events from across the Kingdom and internationally in the area.
