Rare pet tortoise taken by unidentified man in Sri Racha

A woman implored an unidentified man who took her rare pet tortoise from her to give it back and promised to reward him.

A 49-year-old woman, Soontree Thepsuthat, complained to local media about her missing pet tortoise that was taken by an unidentified man on a motorbike from her residence in the Surasak subdistrict of Sri Racha last Wednesday, July 13th.

According to Soontree, her pet was a rare African spurred tortoise that lived on land. At around 1:30 PM, the tortoise clawed out of her home’s gate that she left open by accident while doing her chores. Then, according to CCTV footage, an unidentified male motorcyclist spotted the animal, stooped down, and took it away.

Soontree pleaded with the man to return her pet to her as she was afraid the man might mistake it for a wild turtle and release it in a canal, which would kill her pet because it could not live in water and was a desert tortoise. She also promised not to take legal action and would even reward the man if he gave her pet back.
