Intoxicated homeless man allegedly murders second homeless man with a broken liquor bottle at the Chonburi Homeless Center in Pattaya

Banglamung

An intoxicated homeless man allegedly killed a fellow homeless man with a broken liquor bottle at the Chonburi Homeless Protection Center this morning over a personal dispute.

The suspect reportedly acted nonchalantly to the gruesome crime, napping leisurely on his bed following the murder with the corpse still in the dorm, before being arrested by police.

Pol. Capt. Suriya Klahan from the Banglamung Police Station rushed to the Chonburi Homeless Protection Center in the Banglamung District of Chonburi at 1:30 AM on Sunday, July 17th, after being notified that a male intoxicated nomad allegedly murdered a fellow homeless person staying at the center.

At the incident scene, other homeless people were evacuated to the first floor of the building while the suspect remained on the second floor. The officers found the body of the victim, Nattawut Somnuk, 21, with a serious cut to his throat and many bruises. His body was left in front of the dorm style room by the suspect, who had gone back to bed following the gruesome murder.

According to reports, the suspect acted as if nothing had happened while napping. The Banglamung police managed to wake up, detain, and apprehend the suspect without any issue and quickly took him to the Banglamung Police Station. The suspect was reportedly relaxed, smiling, and seemed unconcerned.

The suspect’s name was Suchatanon Wantata, 41, according to eyewitnesses. He was a nomad and was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident. The eyewitnesses said the situation unrolled when Nattawut (the victim), who was also homeless along with Suchatanon, reportedly approached him to apologize for previously reportedly stealing his money.

The suspect, however, became frustrated and smashed the victim’s head with a liquor bottle, stomped him, and slit his throat with a broken bottle, ending his life.

Ultimately, the suspect dragged the victim’s body to the front of the room and went back to sleep before being arrested even as the remainder of the people in the dorm room fled for help.

According to the officers, the victim’s body was moved to Banglamung Hospital to await religious rites while the suspect remained in the police’s custody as of press time. It was unclear which legal charge the suspect would face for his terrifying actions.
