A pickup truck collided with an electrical pole in the Chonburi area. The driver and passenger were reportedly safe without serious injuries, but the driver blamed the wet road and not his driving for the accident.

The incident took place on Thursday, July 14th, on Nong Chak – Phanat Nikhom Road in the Ban Bueng District of Chonburi in the early morning. A pickup truck reportedly crashed into an electrical pole and broke it in half while one victim was trapped in the car and lost consciousness.

According to reports, the vehicle was a white Isuzu pickup truck. The car was found with a dilapidated front with an electrical pole on top of it. The driver named Kritsada Suksawat, 40, fortunately sustained only minor injuries, but his wife Wilawan, 30, was trapped in the car and lost consciousness.

The rescuers then took a few minutes to wake the victim up and help her out of the car, finding no injuries. The driver claimed that the road was slippery due to the rain, causing him to lose control of his truck and crash.

He stated the wet road caused the accident and not his driving skills.

Parinya Luang-on who lived in a rental room nearby and saw the accident said that four accidents had happened at this same spot since the beginning of this year.

“I saw thirteen electrical poles get toppled over the last few months because of the car crashes,” Parinya stated.

It was unclear, however, if all the accidents blamed the road being wet.

Initially, Ban Bueng police were investigating the scene and reviewing CCTV footage. They also said they would find a way to prevent regular accidents at this spot although they did not give any specifics.
