Thai PM orders investigation into illegal sales of Covid-19 drugs at public marketplaces

Bangkok –Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha today, July 13th, ordered the Ministry of Public Health and related agencies to examine the illegal sales of Covid-19 drugs in public marketplaces and to create a correct understanding among people of the use of Covid-19 drugs.

Government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana revealed that the Prime Minister expressed his concerns over the concern of people buying Molnupiravir at public marketplaces to treat Covid-19 symptoms because using the medicine without medical assistance and a proper prescription can be dangerous.

The Ministry of Public Health was assigned to create awareness among people about the use of Molnupiravir and reassured the public that Covid-19 patients with severe symptoms can register with ‘UCEP Plus’ for free medical treatment.

Moreover, the Prime Minister also ordered relevant agencies to investigate the reported cases of selling Covid-19 treatment packages and Molnupiravir. According to the government, they are considered illegal as the drugs are provided for free by the government.
