A Thai man barely escaped multiple shotgun shots while waiting to pick up his girlfriend in his car. The cause possibly stemmed from a personal dispute, according to the Banglamung Police Chief.

Teerapan Mulma, a 34-year-old victim, revealed his near-death experience to local media that an unknown number of suspects fired multiple rounds from shotguns at his white Toyota Yaris sedan, in which he was sitting in on the morning of July 3rd. The victim miraculously escaped all shots, whereas his sedan became riddled with bullet holes.

According to Teerapan, he drove to the Pattaya Provincial Waterworks Authority in the early evening of July 3rd to find his girlfriend who was drinking with a group of 6-7 friends, intending to bring her home. Then he had a verbal dispute with his girlfriend because she wanted to carry on with the party, so he decided to back down and return home.

Teerapan called his girlfriend again at midnight, asking her to go home, but she still refused. He also said he talked with some unidentified men at the party over the phone and got into a verbal argument with them before they suddenly invaded his house to attack him. The victim admitted that he chased them away with a knife.

Around 4:30 AM on the same day, Teerapan drove his sedan to the Pattaya Provincial Waterworks again to pick up his girlfriend. However, an unknown number of suspects suddenly pulled up their vehicle beside his car, in which he was sitting, and shot several rounds from what Teerapan said were shotguns at him. Teerapan said he was very fortunate to be able to exit his car in time and run into the woods, avoiding all bullets. The suspects then drove away once they finished.

Banglamung Police Chief Navin Sinthurat ascertained that the bullet holes in the victim’s sedan were from shotguns. He said the cause of the incident may stem from a personal dispute. Initially, he would review CCTV footage to capture the suspect/suspects as soon as possible to guard the victim, who was still in fear of the suspect’s potential return.
