Pattaya police reportedly aid man on Pattaya Beach who allegedly suffered health issues and a panic attack after smoking a joint

Pattaya —

Pattaya police reportedly aided a Thai beachgoer who suffered from alleged health issues and a panic attack after smoking a rolled-up joint on the beach.

The incident happened in the Pattaya Beach area not far from the Pattaya Police Station on July 3rd. The officers received a report from tourists at 00.10 AM that a Thai beachgoer was suffering from what he thought was breathing issues, vision problems, anxiety, dizziness, and tightness in his chest.

Pattaya police and rescuers from Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation found a 29-year-old male, Seksan (last name withheld), on the beach and treated his suffering. According to reports, the victim confessed while being intoxicated that he had smoked a rolled-up joint he bought from a vendor directly on the beach. After half a joint, however, his chest suddenly tightened, he became dizzy, and he felt that he could not breathe, prompting him to call for help from bystanders. Rescue workers believe the man may have suffered a panic attack after experiencing unfamiliar symptoms as a result of smoking cannabis.

The victim also said he had tried marijuana only once many years ago and decided to try it again today after the decriminalization to enliven his time on the beach. He admitted he was not familiar with the effects of marijuana and was also highly intoxicated on alcohol. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for further medical check-ups.

TPN notes that although marijuana is decriminalized, public smoking, including the beach, is against public nuisance ordinances. Pattaya Police warned the public that marijuana is not for everyone and that people should be aware of possible side effects or problems.
