Bangkok –
A former senior Wang Thonlang police officer has been sentenced to 20 years in jail after shooting his girlfriend, killing her, two years ago in Bangkok.
The incident happened on June 20th, 2020 at a townhouse on Happy Road in Klong Jan, Bang Kapi. Ms. Pimchadaporn ‘Nim’ Puyamsai, 30 was found dead with a gunshot wound to the left side of her head.
Capt Songklod ‘Boy’ Boonsong, 31, a former Deputy Investigation Inspector from the Wang Thonglang Police in Bangkok claimed he argued with his girlfriend (not a legally registered marriage). A .45 pistol was accidentally, according to him, fired as she was trying to grab it and he was trying to take it away from her.
The prosecutor stated that Songklod, who is the defendant, intended to kill by using the gun pointed at Ms. Pimchadaporn’s head. Songklod had known that if the gun was fired, Ms. Pimchadaporn would die. Songklod, according to the prosecutor, intended to kill his girlfriend.
Today (June 15th) the court has read the judgment and agreed that the defendant, Songklod, intended to kill another person. The punishment is 20 years in prison and 720,000 baht for the damage cost.
The case had captured the public’s fascination in 2020, notes TPN media.
