Man passes away after being hit by a motorbike rider while crossing the road in Pattaya

Bang Lamung, Chonburi —

A man was hit by a motorbike rider and died while crossing the road in Pattaya yesterday evening.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Chaihan Pimchan, Investigation Inspector at the Pattaya Police Station, responded to a fatal road accident just after dusk yesterday, June 8th, on South Pattaya Rd, Nong Prue subdistrict, Chonburi.

The male victim Kritidet Kaewwongwan (age not provided) was found dead on the road with a serious head injury in the midst of surrounding bystanders. Rescue personnel concealed his body and aided another injured person Nattapon Chandang, 19, who reportedly had crashed his red-black Honda Wave motorbike into the victim and cost his life. Nattapon sustained only minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

One of the surrounding bystanders and eyewitnesses, Chanin Nakniyom, 38, told the local press that he saw the victim just finishing his meal before trying to cross the road. The victim then stopped in the middle of the road to allow a pickup truck to pass before him when a motorbike overtook the truck and collided with him, striking his head on the road. Chanin said he called the rescue center, but the victim could not withstand his injuries and died.
Initially, police were reviewing a dash cam of a vehicle behind the motorbike to press possible charges against the rider.
