Bangkok Governor to urgently discuss facial masks removal and opening hours extension of entertainment venues and public parks

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt prepares to discuss with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) the possibility of facial masks removal in outdoor areas and the opening hours extension of entertainment venues and public parks.

Chadchart revealed to the Associated Press today, June 2nd, about the possibility of allowing people in Bangkok to voluntarily take off their masks after Phuket has recently allowed its people to do so under some conditions, saying that he found the measures interesting as the current situations of Covid-19 Coronavirus in Phuket and Bangkok was no different. Bangkok, therefore, should also prepare to relax this measure as soon as possible. However, the matter should be put into a discussion with relevant experts from the Ministry of Public Health and Bangkok’s Health Department.

Moreover, the Governor also mentioned entrepreneurs’ and nightlife tourists’ request of extending entertainment businesses’ legal opening hours from 12:00 AM. to 2:00 AM. He said that the request was also interesting and would prepare to consult about the matter with relevant agencies urgently.

He added that apart from the entertainment venues, other establishments and public parks must have their opening hours extended as well to cover the needs of the people.
