Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha ordered strict surveillance of entertainment venues, including bars, pubs, soapy massage parlors, and karaoke lounges, as the businesses have returned legally for the first time since April of 2021 today, June 1st, in some provinces.
Government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana told the Associated Press this morning that the Prime Minister had assigned related agencies to inspect and follow up on the establishments after the first day of the reopening on Wednesday whether they are qualified under Thai Stop COVID 2 Plus and properly registered for their reopening with the district office.
All entertainment venues are being reminded to strictly comply with the COVID Free Setting. They are allowed to open and serve/sell alcoholic beverages no later than midnight while refraining from any activities that could cause congestion. Entrepreneurs and employees must be vaccinated according to the criteria and must conduct ATK self-administration every 7 days. Customers must also be vaccinated according to the criteria and already receive a booster dose.
The Prime Minister also urged both service providers and customers to strictly follow public health measures although the overall situation is likely to improve.
As of June 1st, 4,563 new cases of Covid-19 were reported with 28 deaths. A total of 20,412 people were being treated and 5,125 cases were recovered and released from hospitals. About 850 were patients suffering from pneumonia and being treated at hospitals. A number of 2,231,585 cases has been confirmed while 2,217,208 were recovered since January 1st.
