Bangkok –

The Thai Election Committee (EC) has not yet endorsed Chadchart Sittipunt as Bangkok Governor following a complaint from “concerned citizens” about his election sign recycling campaigns, which could be proven as election fraud, according to relevant authorities.

The Committee has released a list of 50 councilors in the Bangkok council this afternoon. However, the endorsement of the elected governor, who was elected with 1,386,215 votes, a record breaking vote, was not officially announced.

The election committee reasoned that they had to reexamine Chadchart following complaints filed by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and concerned citizens who urged the authorities to investigate whether his recycling of election banners campaigns into bags and aprons could make his election win dishonest and be seen as bribery.

The Committee will hold another meeting on May 31st at 1:30 PM. to reconsider the matter before officially announcing the result of the name of the new Bangkok Governor.
