Pattaya —
Indians have replaced the Chinese in terms of the number one arriving Pattaya international tourists, says the Chonburi Tourism and Sports Authority.
Ms. Ampai Sakdanukuljit Sliwinski, a Tourism and Sports official, stated today, May 26th, at the monthly meeting of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association (PBTA) at the Shambhala Hotel Pattaya, that 91,823 tourists have arrived in Chonburi recently. In April, the top five tourists were from India (4,216), the United Kingdom (1,627), Japan (1,007), Korea (946), and Germany (940).
As Test and Go was removed on May 1st, this number has only increased, said the meeting, with India leading the way. Exact results will be available next month.
Ms. Ampai said that Indian tourists have surpassed Chinese tourists because China has yet to lift its nationwide lockdown to allow its citizens to travel abroad other than to conduct business. China continues a “Zero Covid” policy currently.
Additionally, Ms. Ampai suggested removing the Thailand Pass to allow certain groups of visitors who have not received a vaccination or a full vaccination to enter the country by presenting a professional ATK or RT-PCR test result within 72 hours of departure.
Further easing of Thailand Pass is expected in June, notes TPN media.
