47-year-old man allegedly attacked by his “friend” while playing snooker in Pattaya

South Pattaya, Chonburi —

A 47-year-old man was allegedly punched in the face by his “friend” while playing snooker this morning in Pattaya, allegedly over a bet.

At 02.20 a.m. this morning, May 19th, Pol. Capt. Setthaphon Singnok from the Pattaya Police Station was notified of a fight at an unnamed snooker club in South Pattaya, Nong Prue sub-district, Bang Lamung, Chonburi.

The injured man, Sarawut Pantan, 47, who came to the police station with a bloody nose, told police that he was playing snooker with his friend and placed a bet. However, when Sarawut asked for money from his friend once he won the game, he suddenly got punched in the face.

According to Pradit Iam-Om, a 54-year-old caretaker from the snooker club, Sarawut and the attacker were indeed friends before one of them won a bet that was likely to frustrate the other.

Initially, Sarawut was transferred to the Pattaya Hospital for treatment while police were under investigation to arrest the suspect, who was not identified by Pattaya Police to the press. Pattaya police did not comment on the fact the two men had reportedly bet on a game, which is illegal in Thailand.
