Pattaya —
A 15-year-old girl ordered a phone online but, much to her surprise, got laundry detergent instead. She already reported the incident to the Pattaya Police Station and then contacted the local press.
Yesterday, May 15th, a 15-year-old girl, whose name is withheld due to her age, contacted a local media outlet in Pattaya, Chonburi, about an alleged online shopping scam.
According to the victim, she ordered a 6,579 baht phone for her brother and placed her order to pay upon delivery. However, when she received and paid for the parcel, she admitted that she did not open it until the evening and discovered that the content was only laundry detergent.
According to the victim, she already attempted to contact the application customer service, but it was closed during the holidays. The girl then reported the case to the Pattaya police.
The girl wanted to share the story to the local press as a cautionary tale to always inspect your packages upon delivery. Pattaya Police said they are working with the victim to recover her funds and have withheld the name of the application used pending further investigation.
