Bangkok –

The Thai Ministry of Public Health is planning to propose the lowering of the Covid-19 national alert from Level 3 to 2 at the next meeting of the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) next Friday, May 20th.

Permanent Secretary Kiattiphum Wongrachit told the Associated Press that the lowering of the alert must concord with the national preventive measures. Therefore, the issue must be discussed with the CCSA general meeting for approval. But, it is now being considered by the Department of Disease Control whether the proposal was ready and should be introduced at the CCSA general meeting on May 20th.

TPN Media notes that Level 2 means that the public can mostly resume life almost as normal to the pre-Covid period. More preventive measures will be relaxed and more businesses will be reopened or fully operated. This may include the (legal) return of entertainment venues and some relaxed measures at outside venues like parks and beaches, such as mask mandates in certain settings.

TPN media will provide full coverage of the upcoming major meeting on May 20th.
