Pattaya police resume checkpoints on Walking Street and ask guards to look out for inappropriate incidents

Pattaya —

Pattaya police examined Walking Street, set up checkpoints, and asked the guards to be vigilant and to report any inappropriate incidents to them for immediate response earlier this week.

Crowds of tourists were reportedly seen in Pattaya Sunday, May 1st after Thailand’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) relaxed many restrictions, including extending the alcohol sales time to midnight, reducing quarantine days, allowing certain types of gatherings, and discontinuing the Test and Go program.

In response to the relaxations, Pol. Lt. Col. Pitchaya Khewplueng went to Walking Street, which was reported to be one of the busiest tourist spots, to set up checkpoints to prevent inappropriate incidents and to speak with the guards personally. Pitchaya asked them to be vigilant and to report any emergencies to the police for an immediate response so that visitors to Walking Street would feel secure.
