Chaiyaphum –

Five senior officers from the Mueang Chaiyaphum Police Station were ordered immediately transferred and to have disciplinary examinations after reportedly ignoring an illegal gambling establishment in their area of responsibility.

This followed a raid of a commercial building for rent in the Nornsathorn Market in Mueang District by Chaiyaphum governor Kraisorn Kongchalard and military special forces after being alerted by a concerned citizen that there was a reported large-scale gambling establishment in the building.

About 11 alleged gamblers were discovered playing Dragon-Tiger cards upon the raid. A large amount of cash and gambling equipment were also found and confiscated.

As of yesterday, May 1st, Police Lieutenant Colonel Somprasong Yenthum, the commander of Provincial Police Region 3, had issued an urgent order to immediately transfer five officers from the Mueang Chaiyaphum Police Station, including the director, deputy director, and related inspectors, to perform duties at Provincial Police Region 3 until further notice.

The order also mentioned the urgent set up of an Examination Discipline Committee to investigate the officers and if they were involved and intentionally neglecting the illegal establishment.
