Chonburi announces 499 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 and nine new deaths

Highlights:

  • 499 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Chonburi today

  • 2,826 positive ATK (rapid antigen) tests were reported but all require a second confirmed PCR test before being counted as official cases. The ATK positive tests are just “possible” cases until confirmed by PCR. TPN notes, however, that second confirmed tests are no longer mandatory except for high-risk groups.
  • 704 (PCR) and 3,185 (ATK) recovered and were released from medical care
  • Nine new deaths

The Chonburi Department of Public Health announced 499 new and confirmed cases of Covid-19 today with nine new deaths, on April 28th, 2022.

This makes a total of 103,695 cases (PCR) and 289,589 cases (ATK) of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 5,620 (PCR) and 37,578 (ATK) people still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 261 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections at the beginning of this year, January 2022.

Additionally, 704 (PCR) and 3,158 (ATK) people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi. 97,814 (PCR) and 252,011 (ATK) people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave of Covid-19 began at the beginning of this year, January 2022.
Four people were listed as being in serious condition in Chonburi currently, either on a ventilator or with pneumonia. Two of them were not vaccinated. According to the Chonburi Department of Public Health, the vast majority of recent cases are mild or asymptomatic.
The nine new deaths were aged 40, 52, 58, 62, 67, 87, 88, 90, and 91 with severe personal health problems and pre-existing conditions. Five of them were not vaccinated.
In total, 2,065,956 people in Pattaya and Chonburi have received their first dose of a Covid -19 vaccine which is 88.70 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 308,724 have received their first dose and are what the Thai government calls 608 groups (elders, have chronic health problems, and pregnant) which is 83.45 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
995,432 people have received their triple dose which is 42.74 percent of the total Chonburi population. Of those, 179,509 are 608 groups which are 48.52 percent of those in these risk groups in Chonburi.
The district-level new cases were as follows today:
Mueang Chonburi 114, Sri Racha 124, Banglamung (Pattaya) 97, Panat Nikhom 4, Sattahip 40, Ban Bueng 22, Phan Thong 35, ฺBor Thong 7, Ko Chan 3, Nong Yai 3, and 50 people transferred from other provinces for medical care.
