Young man drowns searching for shells in Chonburi

Chonburi –

A young man who was searching for shells in a reservoir in the Ko Chan district drowned over the past weekend.

The Ko Chan Police was notified of the incident at a reservoir in the Ko Chan sub-district. Rescue divers arrived at the scene and it took about an hour to find the body of Mr. Kikit Krajangthin, 33, from Udon Thani.

His friend, Mr. Bula Pungam, 53, told TPN reporters, “We were searching for shells in the water. The bucket that we put shells in began floating away from us. Mr. Likit followed the bucket before he became weak and unable to continue to swim. I tried to help but was unable to support him and swam back to land before calling for help but it was too late.”

Ko Chan police told TPN reporters that Bula’s statement seemed accurate although a follow-up examination of Kikit’s body would take place.
