A 70-year-old woman was reportedly choked and raped by an unidentified man with a buzz cut who threatened to return if she reported the rape to the police.
Yesterday, April 25th, local media met with Champa Khemthong, a female 70-year-old scavenger, who was reportedly raped by an unknown man with a buzz cut at her rental room near the Nong Ri – Thong Khung Rd, Nong Ri sub-district, Mueang district, Chonburi.
According to the victim’s statement, the crime occured around 01.30 PM on April 20th. She was in her room when the culprit broke in, strangled her with a knife to her throat, and raped her.
After finishing his malfeasance, the culprit threatened the victim not to report to the police, and that he would return. However, she eventually decided to report him to the Chonburi Police Station, where she was advised to have her body examined at Chonburi Hospital.
Saichon Paisalpoom, a 61-year-old former village headman, told local media that police had already checked the crime scene. He suspected a nomad or a drug addict of committing this crime because such a thing was unprecedented. He also said that the culprit did not come back, though the victim’s son was waiting to capture him.
Initially, Nithat Waenpradub, Superintendent from the Chonburi Police Station, stated over the phone to TPN media that they were reviewing security footage to find the culprit and would summon several suspects for questioning.
