Bangkok –

Bangkok City is celebrating its 240th anniversary by arranging several historical places on Rattanakosin Island into fun entertainment venues for “The 240th Anniversary of The Foundation of Rattanakosin” from April 20th to the 24th.

A series of cultural events, unique activities, and performances to commemorate the city’s 240th anniversary as the country’s capital were prepared to demonstrate the kingdom’s soft power to allow Thais and foreign tourists to learn more about Thai culture and history.

According to the Thai government, the celebrations will commemorate Bangkok’s founding on April 21st, 1782 as well as commemorate King Rama I, the founder of Bangkok and the Chakri dynasty, and all monarchs of the dynasty.

The five-day celebration will be held at 20 historical and famous locations on the Rattanakosin Island, including the Grand Palace, National Museum Bangkok, National Theater, Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theater, and Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center.

The event is organized under tightened preventive measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, according to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) will also provide free shuttle bus services between each venue throughout the event. Participants can call the 1348 hotline to confirm pickup and drop-off locations.
