Pattaya –

A 23-year-old sedan passenger was found dead outside the taxi she hired after the driver collided with a pickup truck in Banglamung yesterday morning (April 19th).

The Nongprue Police were notified of the accident at 4:30 A.M. on a road near the railway in Soi Nern Plubwan, Nongprue sub-district.

First responders arrived at the scene to find a damaged white sedan on the side of the road. The body of Ms. Lalita Sangsawang, 23, who was a taxi passenger, was found on the road outside the sedan. The sedan driver, Mr. Maruwan Taeloa, 30, had sustained only very minor injuries, however, declined to speak to the press. Maruwan was a hired taxi driver from an online mobile ride application, although the exact company was withheld pending further investigation. It was unclear if Ms. Lalita had been wearing a seatbelt.

Nearby, emergency teams found a damaged blue pickup truck. The driver, Mr. Thongkam Kietisak, 33, was calmly waiting for Nongprue Police at the scene and was uninjured.

Mr. Thongkam told Nongprue police, “I was coming from the straightaway. When I arrived at the intersection, the white sedan immediately drove out in the opposite direction. I was unable to stop the collision, which spun both vehicles and threw Ms. Lalita from her vehicle.”

Friends of Ms. Lalita who later arrived at the scene, who asked for their names to be withheld, told Nongprue police that Ms. Lalita was coming back from a night out with them. She had called for a taxi from a mobile application, which was the vehicle that she was riding home in. She was tragically thrown from the vehicle during the accident.

Nongprue Police are checking CCTV footage nearby and conducting alcohol tests on both drivers for further potential legal action.
