Koh Larn seeing uptick in arriving tourists during Songkran week

Pattaya –

Business operators on Koh Larn noticed a positive sign of increasing visitors during Songkran week but told TPN reporters yesterday it was not as busy as before Covid.

Yesterday, April 11th, quite a large crowd of tourists was forming at the ferry port, Bali Hai, in Pattaya right before the kickoff of the Songkran/Water Festival. According to the ferry operators, tourists, both foreign and Thai but mostly domestic Thai tourists (around 70%), intended to board a boat to Koh Larn to spend their vacation during these long holidays. Koh Larn, which had always been one of the most tourist-packed spots during every Songkran, was heavily affected by the pandemic, resulting in a diminishing amount of tourists. The situation now seemed to gradually improve but one of the vendors told TPN that the tourist numbers were still not as high as before Covid.

Songkran runs until around April 19th in Pattaya and nationally from April 13th-April 15th. Visitors to Koh Larn should understand that due to increased amounts of tourists that there may be longer waits for ferries.
