Intoxicated man causes public disturbance, arrested after leading police on 2 kilometer foot chase in Chonburi

Chonburi –

Police chased after an intoxicated man over two kilometers before finally catching and arresting him in the Panat Nikhom district early this morning, April 7th

The Panat Nikhom Police was notified of a domestic disturbance incident at a house on Panat Nikhom – Koh Poe Road in the Na Ruek sub-district around 1:00 A.M. today.

Law enforcement arrived at the scene to find the man suspected of a public disturbance who was later identified as Mr. Pongsakorn Saminyae, 35, in his house in an agitated state. When Pongsakorn saw police with special equipment, he ran away from the house and crossed the road into a nearby forest, refusing police orders to stop.

Police and rescue workers took place in a foot chase after Pongsakorn before catching him two kilometers from his house. He was taken to the Panat Nikhom Police Station. Police conducted drug tests on Pongsakorn and they reportedly found methamphetamine in his urine test.

Pongsakorn’s mother, Mrs. Sompean Saminyae, 57, told TPN reporters, “My son was threatening to attack his wife. He had previously hit his brother. He destroyed the door to our house. I asked him to stop but he did not listen to me before I called police.”

Pongsakorn faces multiple charges ranging from assault to drug usage to refusing lawful orders from a member of law enforcement.

Meanwhile, a young man brandishing a knife in the parking lot of a local mall on Second Road was arrested by a team from the Pattaya Police yesterday afternoon (April 6th).
