Chonburi woman allegedly beaten by drunken husband after getting significant donations following viral social media video

Chonburi –

The mother of a child who went viral on Tiktok for begging for leftover soup to feed her family was allegedly assaulted by her husband after receiving over half a million baht donation.
Following a viral video on Tiktok of a little daughter who begged for leftover soup from a street vendor, the family of a child who lived in the Na Pa sub-district, Mueang district, Chonburi, received over six hundred thousand baht in donations from generous Thais across the country.

However, it was reported that Sanit Chanpinit, a 39-year-old mother of the child, was assaulted by her husband Pornprom Silma who drunkenly accused her of being unfaithful. Pornprom allegedly punched and hit her with a spatula and even reportedly attempted to rape his neighbor afterwards before getting arrested by Chonburi police.

According to the latest update on April 5th by TPN reporters, the mother was still suffering from a swollen face and stitches on her head. She said she was preparing to go to Chonburi Hospital to request a medical certificate in order to file an assault charge against her husband. She also denied reconciliation with her husband and desired to move to her hometown in the Sisaket province.

Regarding the donation, Tossaphon Yuenyuen, an assistant to a village headman, revealed to TPN reporters that he was keeping the money for them as he was afraid the husband would deplete it on drinking. Eventually, he planned to use it to buy a new house for them, but still awaited the mother’s consent.
As of now, Pornprom (the husband) was still in police custody at the Chonburi Police Station and was charged with public intoxication. His neighbor, however, decided not to file sexual assault charges against him, but police said he may receive another charge for assaulting his wife which could result in up to three-years imprisonment.
