The Royal Thai Police warned the public about posting and sharing unacceptable jokes and pranks that could be fake news on April Fool’s Day, April 1st.
Deputy Spokesman Siriwat Deepor said that some jokes or pranks may affect or cause public panic in the society, especially when they were being posted and shared widely on social media.
The national police, therefore, warned the public to be careful when posting jokes during the April Fool’s Day and avoid ones relating to the safety of people’s lives and property, national security system, the spread of the Covid-19 Coronavirus, and others that may cause panic and confusion in the society.
If found, users could be facing maximum imprisonment of 5 years or a maximum fine of 100,000 baht, or both as they violated the Computer Crime Act, according to the spokesperson.
