Pattaya city will host the Kong Khao Pattaya Festival (a traditional rice ceremony) on April 17th and again on April 20th.
Kong Khao Pattaya Festival is a subtle, traditional way to declare the start of Songkran or the Thai New Year. As for this year, this practice has been announced to take place on April 17th at Wat Nong Yai temple and again on April 20th at Lan Pho park in the hope of promoting local, cultural tourism and upholding local, traditional sports.
On April 17th, at 6.00 p.m., participants are invited to join in building a sand pagoda as a blessing to themselves and families, and on April 20th, there will be many fun, traditional sports competitions such as shooting a slingshot and Hoop Takraw. Those who are interested in competing can sign up at Lan Pho park on April 20th at 08.30 a.m.
