 The Pattaya mayoral candidates draw numbers today for the approaching Pattaya mayoral election amid cheering supporters. The numbers will help identify each candidate in their signage throughout Pattaya’s election process.
On March 31st, the Pattaya city hall was crowded with mayoral candidates from three different teams, one independent candidate, and many supporters who came to draw a number for the nearing election. A cheering, loud, and excited crowd of dozens of supporters for all four candidates was present, showing that Pattaya voters are ready for the election.
As it turned out, Poramase Ngampiches drew number one, Sak Taenghor (independent) number two, Kittisak Ninwattanatochai number three, and Sinchai Watthanasathon number 4. The former mayor Sontaya Khunpluem leads the Rao Rak Pattaya or We Love Pattaya team whose candidate is Poramase. Sonthaya will not be running personally. The Pattaya Ruamjai team was led by Nirun Wattanasathorn, whose candidate is Sinchai, and the Move Forward team was led by Thanathorn Jungrungruangkit, the president of the Move Forward association, whose candidate is Kittisak.
The election is scheduled for May 22nd, 2022, and over the next several weeks we will provide ample coverage of the first mayoral election in Pattaya in almost a decade. Elections had previously been suspended due to the military coup in 2014 and recent mayors, like Sonthaya Khunplume, had been appointed by the government.
