Fire guts restaurant before spreading to rice shop in Chonburi today

  A fire gutted a Thai restaurant before spreading to an adjoining rice shop in Chonburi today. The restaurant owner pays 100,000 baht in compensation.

Today, Pol Col Uthai Abmalee was notified of a fire at a Thai restaurant located in the Huai Kapi sub-district, Mueang district, Chonburi. Upon arrival, one fire truck from the Huai Kapi station was at the scene and trying to extinguish the fire on a Thai restaurant that had spread to an adjoining rice shop. It took an hour to put out the fire.Mr. Prasert Praeksachat, a 47-year-old owner of the restaurant, claimed he had closed his restaurant like usual and already unplugged everything except for his freezer. While on his way home, the rice shop owner called to alert him of a fire at his restaurant, so he rushed back but the fire had already spread. He reportedly agreed to pay a total of 100,000 baht in compensation to the other shop owner for damages. Police were investigating the cause of the fire at the moment to proceed with possible further charges.

As of press time, however, the exact cause of the blaze had not been revealed by Mueang Chonburi police.
