Woman rescued after jumping into canal in the Pattaya area

  A young woman has been rescued after jumping from a bridge into a canal in the Pattaya area yesterday, March 28th, 2022.

Rescue workers were notified of the incident ten minutes after midnight on a bridge in the Nongprue sub-district. They and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find Ms. Nanta (last name withheld), 30, lying in the canal three meters down from the bridge.

Rescue workers went down into the canal before securing Nanta to a rescue board and pulling her up onto the bridge. She was taken to a local hospital with several injuries.

Witnesses said Ms. Nanta was arguing with her girlfriend before she ran away and jumped from the bridge into the canal below. Witnesses tried to stop her from jumping but failed. The girlfriend of the injured woman was not immediately identified by police nor what the argument had been about.
