Pattaya, Thailand-
An eighty-year-old American man was found deceased in a Pattaya condo this evening with a bag over his head and Pattaya police are investigating.
According to Pol.Lt. Col. Puttharak Sonkhamhan, Deputy Inspector General of Pattaya Police Station, the deceased man was found about 6:30 P.M. this evening, March 27th, at his condo in the Soi 13 area of Pattaya.
The deceased, whose name has been withheld pending embassy and family contact, had been found by a condominium employee, Ms. Mam Worawut, 41 years old, who came to check on him.
According to Ms. Worawut, the deceased had not been seen recently which was unusual for him and was not responding to knocks on his door or continued phone calls. She entered the room out of concern for his health and found him deceased with a plastic bag over his head.
Lt. Col Puttharak stated that the room safe was open but nothing seemed disturbed and there did not seem to be signs of a physical altercation. Pattaya police will be reviewing CCTV footage to see if anyone else had entered or left the room prior to the victim’s death.
However, at this point, Pattaya police are leaning towards death by suicide as the suspected cause of death, but that has not yet been finalized.
TPN media will give further updates when and if they are provided by relevant authorities.
