Thailand reported a total of 23,441 daily Covid-19 infections with 88 additional deaths in the past 24 hours, the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported today, March 21st.
The fatalities were 44 men and 44 women with the highest rate in Prachuap Khiri Khan with 7. 87 of them were Thai nationals and one was a Myanmar national. The age range was between 17 and 93 years old.
Most of them were reported with underlying health conditions, including cancer (6), kidney disease (21), obesity (10), stroke (12), and heart disease (14). Seven of the fatalities were bedridden patients.
Of the new cases, 23,118 were found in hospitals and medical services (which includes contact tracing cases), 239 were from a proactive approach at previously reported clusters, 46 were from prisons, and the remaining 38 were imported cases.
A number of 240,339 patients are still under treatment/isolation/medical care. Of that, 1,464 patients are in critical condition including 514 on ventilators. This is roughly 0.60 percent of cases that are critical while 35.1 percent of that is critical enough for a ventilator.
Regarding the non-prison local infections, the highest number of patients were reported in Bangkok with 2,870, followed by Nakhon Sri Thammarat with 1,625, Chonburi with 1,128, Samut Sakhon with 908, Samut Prakan with 865, and Rayong with 737.
A total number of 93,021 people nationwide have received Covid-19 vaccines in the past 24 hours. Of that, 23,161 people had received their first shots, 12,071 people had received their second shots, and 57,789 people had received their third shots. This is roughly 78.9% of the total Thai population who have had their first shot of a Covid-19 vaccine, 72.1% who have had a second shot and are fully vaccinated, and 32.2% have had a third booster shot.
As of today, 23,153 people fully recovered in the past 24 hours and have been released from field hospitals and quarantine centers. Thailand has now reached a total of 3,377,410 cases with 3,112,737 recoveries and a total of 24,334 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
