Saensuk, Chonburi

A local reporter went to Khao Sam Muk road, Saensuk subdistrict, Chonburi, after being notified by the monkey food vendor that they had seen a rare exotic monkey with white fur at a view spot on the mountain.

After quite a search, reporters did discover the monkey at one of the view spots on the mountain. Like the locals mentioned, the monkey appeared to have a white face and tail and a slightly brown body which resembled the famous mystical monkey in Chinese legend, Sun Wukong (also known as “The Monkey King”) according to the reporter.

The locals in the area said that there should be only two of these monkeys and they are usually friendly and very hard to find since they live high up on the mountain and will come down to surprise tourists once in a while. However, the weather must have been too hot which drove them to descend the mountain to find food down here, the locals said.

From the tourist’s point of view, they would love to see the monkey too because of its reputation and rarity.

According to the caretaker of Khao Sam Muk Shrine, the albino monkey will be present around the coffee shop near the view spot every day. He himself used to see only one of them and would like to invite those who were interested to visit the mountain.
