Famous Thai singer and songwriter ‘Aed Carabao’ composes song, urging government to ditch all Covid-19 restrictions like the UK and “move on” now

Bangkok –

Famous singer/songwriter Yuenyong Opakul, better known by his stage name ‘Aed Carabao’, had released a new song Thursday, March 17th, named “Let Go of Covid” (literal title, video below) as a message to the government to express people’s hardship and urge the government to relax the measures.

Aed wrote a message along with the post: “I went to hand a trophy at the Carabao Cup football trophy in England recently. Although the country was cold, they were still able to live with Covid-19. There were nearly 90,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium and I had to take off my mask. I was shy because I was the only one who was wearing it, feeling like a black sheep. I was astounded to see everything completely normal, all nightlife open without rules and restrictions, concerts and sports normal, no outdoor mask-wearing, all of it.”

“If [the government] wanted to do Covid-19 restrictions seriously, how about did it like Shenzhen, China, right now? Completely lockdown with a specific time limit. Even in China where they worked harder than us, people were still infected but they were not afraid. Obviously, this would never work here and we should emulate the UK versus this strange middle ground we are stuck in currently hurting the economy, tourism, and the nightlife, concert, and entertainment industry.” Aed stated.

“I think we should stop thinking of eliminating Covid-19 from the Kingdom. China still couldn’t do it. But we should accept this fact and live with Covid-19 and treat it, medically, as we do the flu. This needs to happen now, and not in four months,” he wrote.

He also urged the government to have mercy on people who had to go out to earn a living day by day and who were not allowed to run business and make a living, specifically referring to the technically still legally closed nightlife industry, which is where many musicians make most of their income. The business chain had now broken,” he said.

Here is a rough translation of the lyrics:

“Oh… we’re all starving to death.

we’re all starving to death.

I don’t know what you’re thinking

to stay still and do nothing

A life that once had to struggle

in order to have food and money

2 years ago that the door… of opportunity had been shut off

Oh… Vaccines are already injected.

Sick people had now recovered.

There are more people that have died from car crashes.

Covid-19 is just a disease.

Starvation disease is even more serious.

Please let it go .. Mr. CCSA.

You are a doctor, whoever is sick can heal.

You have medicine, knowledge, and expertise.

CCSA is not a prince of devils.

and the government is not a Grim Reaper

[I] cannot bare it any longer, Boss.

So grabbed the guitar, recklessly speaking.

Cannot bare it any longer, Boss

Born as a buffalo, they must eat grass.

Born as a citizen, a life is more important than your political game.”
